Tigerrrr (Day 14 of Wardrobe Diary)

My cousin and her bf are in town for a few days and I stopped by their hotel today. I didn't plan the tiger theme but it was bonne chance. The whole room was fierce actually, not just the chair. This is a hotel I will definitely recommend to friends coming to visit.

necklace: formerly owned by my Aunt
tank: H&M
tiger belt: purchased at a boutique in Key West
shorts: customized l.e.i. jeans
kicks: converse

Print on print (Day 13 of Wardrobe Diary)

One of my good friends is currently vacationing in Greece with a local. I'm jealous beyond belief. This is my "I wish I was in Greece on a yacht" ensemble. I'm constantly searching for prints that can coexist in one outfit. The head scarf is a brown floral pattern and the dress/sarong is an Egyptian daily life scene. The only tip I have heard regarding pairing two prints is that one should be a big print and the other a small print. Do you think this works?

head scarf: Blue Tulip
earrings: don't remember
bangles: forever 21
sunglasses: H&M
sarong: small boutique in Nantucket

Umbrella ella ella (Day 12 of Wardrobe Diary)

On my way back from happy hour at a dive bar in our neighborhood. Three dollar drafts- you bet I'm smiling. Like my new umbrella? The yucky weather provoked me to wear my highlighter pink blouse.

umbrella: Nicole Miller
bag: Target
necklace: gift
pink blouse: thrift (tag says "Judy Bond")
shorts: Old Navy
shoes: H&M

Mint Condition

I was online shopping (looking, not buying) and I stumbled upon MINT jodi arnold. I don't know how it is possible, but for years, every MINT piece I have seen in an editorial publication provokes an "I want it now!" response. We are sort of between seasons but here are four of my favorite pieces that are for sale on the website.

Chillaxing (Day 11 of Wardrobe Diary)

I just received my start date for my new job: Friday! The heat is killer today but I needed to leave my air conditioned apartment to do some errands. At the rate I'm going, I'll probably run these Nine West sandals into the ground by the end of the summer. I'm a power walker by nature (yes, it is stupid to do that in the heat) and most of my shoes give me beautiful blisters. These sandals do not.

shirt: Bob's
necklace: gift
white denim shorts: SO GSJC
sandals: Nine West

Fancy Shmancy (Day 10 of Wardrobe Diary)

I cleaned and organized all of my make up and jewelry cases today. I found these pearl studs among my things. Sweet find! I honestly don't shop often and here is the legit reason: I am a collector. I have items that get pushed to the back of my closet and magically resurface at the appropriate time. One of my favorite Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice) tag lines seems to apply to my night: "...take a turn about the room.-I assure you it is very refreshing after sitting so long in one attitude." Donning pearls and a party dress on my balcony physically got me out of my pajamas and refreshed me. Here is to being productive the rest of the night.

headband: Faces
studs: don't remember
dress: twenty one
shoes: Marc Fisher

note: this was a quick shot taken by my roommate and her finger is welcome to make guest appearances in my wardrobe photos

Dinner on the Water (Day 9 of Wardrobe Diary)

Once a summer, my family dines at a pricy beach restaurant. The vibe is laid back, they have an outdoor bar, and the food is always delish. I was running low on clean laundry and turned a beach cover-up into a summer dress by wearing a skirt and tank top underneath it.

tank top: Target
cover up: DAY Birger et Mikkelsen
earrings: borrowed from Mom
sash: scarf borrowed from Mom
sandals: Target

Always have room for dessert! Mango sorbet with raspberries.

Mother-Daughter Pedicures (Day 8 of Wardrobe Diary)

My Mom gets her nails done every few weeks so I went with her to her regular salon to get a pedicure. Who doesn't love being pampered? I picked essie polish. It is brighttt. Possibly the "perky purple" shade.

floppy hat: Macy's
blouse: H&M
shorts: Target
bracelets: Uncle Margaret's and vintage
sandals: Target

Mom picked a peach-pink pearly hue.

Lillies in our yard.

Lounge Act (Day 7 of Wardrobe Diary)

I did not make it out of my pajamas today. Slightly embarrassing. I didn't have a mission for the day so I'm not worried about it. My pajamas are not fashionable at all so no picture for you.

Blueberries Galore (Day 6 of Wardrobe Diary)

My family lives within walking distance of a farm with "pick your own" blueberries. I went picking in the morning with friends and then made blueberry muffins. I was better at making a mess than making the muffins. I tried to do it old school (use a recipe in a book instead of epicurious.com) but the recipe was a dud. Thankfully the blueberries were so fresh that it didn't make too much of a difference.

hat: I forget (maybe Macy's)
short necklace: gift from Grandmother
long necklace: thrift shop
knit blouse: H&M
pajama/drop-crotch pants: thrift shop

I picked 6 pounds that day. Thanks to the rain we have had this summer the bushes were brimming with berries.

In the Navy (Day 5 of Wardrobe Diary)

I'm pretty obsessed with nautical-inspired clothing in the summer (currently three summers running). I put this ensemble together in the morning and then a package arrived from my cousin. It was a photo album filled with pictures taken of my family when my Grandfather was in the Navy. Quite the coincidence. My intense interest in navy and white stripes makes perfect sense: my Grandmother went to FIT and my Grandfather was in the Navy. Now I need to find me a sailor!

suspenders: thrift shop
oversized shirt: American Eagle
white skirt: thrift shop
bracelet: Uncle Margaret's
sandals: Target

My Grandpa is on the right, first one inside the booth. He actually lied about his age so that he could enlist.

Traveling Clothes (Day 4 of Wardrobe Diary)

In case you cannot tell from this photo, my natural disposition is not sugary sweet. Note to self: smile more. Traveling used to be an occasion to get gussied up for. I'm technically wearing a dress, non? I went home to visit family for almost a week.

t-shirt dress: Uniqlo
studded belt: tilt
cocktail ring: chinatown (Kenneth Jay Lane) knock-off
sandals: Kino Sandals

Beat the Heat (Day 3 of Wardrobe Diary)

Looking at the weather report for today (ridiculous heat and humidity) I needed an outfit with minimal clothing. Sadly, just after my roommate snapped this pick I dropped my sunglasses and they broke. That is why I never pay more than $10 for sunglasses. The skort is from my Aunt's bff who was cleaning out a closet and found clothes from 30 plus years ago that she had never worn. I am one lucky lady because they were all my size.

sunglasses (RIP): forever 21
necklace: thrift shop
tank top:eyeshadow
skort: vintage
shoes: H&M

Herrera Downtown (Day 2 of Wardrobe Diary)

Today was laundry day and yet my closet was still jam-packed with clothing. Not normal. I decided to wear my "tablecloth" skirt as my mother calls it. I added a button down blouse in an effort to look polished. How does Carolina Herrera make it look so easy? My attempt is unkempt in comparison and as a result, more of a downtown look.

button necklace: street vendor
blue blouse: H&M
"tablecloth" skirt: Sugar + Box (purchased at Helianthus)
sandals: Kino Sandals

Polka Time (Day 1 of Wardrobe Diary)

I have yet to start my new job (lease issues keep pushing back the start date) and I am used to being ridiculously busy so I decided to start a diary of my ensembles. Today I asked my roommate if she would be my personal photographer for this project. The polka dots are very appropriate as she and I are both Polish and her Dziadzia once taught me how to polka in his kitchen in upstate New York. Off to a good start, no?

earrings: vintage
jumper: vintage
tank top: H&M
sandals: Marc Fisher
